ABOUT

Barbara E. Reid, O.P. is a Dominican Sister of Grand Rapids, Michigan.  She holds a Ph.D. in Biblical Studies from The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., M.A. in Religious Studies and B.A. from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, MI.  She is Vice President and Academic Dean and Professor of New Testament Studies at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago.  Her most recent books are Wisdom’s Feast. An Introduction to Feminist Interpretation of the Scriptures (Eerdmans Press, 2016); Abiding Word: Sunday Reflections for Year A, B, C (3 vols., Liturgical Press, 2011-2013); Taking Up the Cross: New Testament Interpretations Through Latina and Feminist Eyes (Fortress Press, 2007; Spanish translation, Reconsiderar la Cruz, Verbo Divino, 2009), The Gospel According to Matthew. New Collegeville Bible Commentary Series (Liturgical Press, 2005); Parables for Preachers (3 volumes; Liturgical Press, 1999-2001), Choosing the Better Part? Women in the Gospel of Luke (Liturgical Press, 1996).  She is General Editor for the 58-volume feminist commentary on the Bible, Wisdom Commentary Series (Liturgical Press).She is past President of the Catholic Biblical Association of America (2004-2005).She has led may study tours and retreats in the Holy Lands.
