ABOUT

Cecilia Espinoza is a Maryknoll Missioner retired in 2019, who together with her husband served for 34 years. She is the mother of three young adults, and she is blessed to have two beautiful grandsons, Samuel, and Ethan.

Cecilia is currently contracted by the University of Notre Dame and Marquette University to plan and conduct an immersion educational program in the culture, history, and language of Chile.

She is an Occupational Therapist with her degree from the University of Chile, and a Master of Science in Counseling and Family Therapy, from Iona University, NY. She also has a Certification in Community Psychiatry, from the University of Talca, Chile, and a Certification in Theology for Laity, from Catholic University of Chile. She is currently starting online studies in Floral Therapy, at the School of Floral Therapists TEBACH, Santiago, Chile.

Cecilia was director of the Occupational Therapy Department of the Geriatric Hospital, Santiago, Chile. She served as the director of Campus Ministry at South Mountain University, AZ. She was the founder and director of the Department of Liturgy and the Family Counselor at the Family Department of the Diocese of Linares, Chile. She worked as an Occupational and Family Therapist of the Wholistic Health Center for Adolescents, Linares, Chile. And for the last 20 years she served as a Manager of the Mission Services department, Maryknoll, NY.

During her youth, Cecilia participated in the Diocesan activities of the Western Zone of Santiago where she was part of the Council of two Bishops recognized for the defense of human rights in Chile: Monsignor Fernando Ariztía and Monsignor Enrique Alvear.

Cecilia in addition to her missionary work in the rural communities of the Diocese of Linares, Chile, she did human rights work, and civic preparation for the Chilean national plebiscite during the military dictatorship.

Cecilia Espinoza es una misionera de Maryknoll jubilada en 2019, quien junto con su esposo sirvió durante 34 años. Es madre de tres jóvenes adultos y tiene la bendición de tener dos hermosos nietos, Samuel y Ethan.

Cecilia actualmente está contratada por la Universidad de Notre Dame y la Universidad de Marquette para planificar y llevar a cabo un programa educativo de inmersión en la cultura, historia, y lenguaje de Chile.

Es Terapeuta Ocupacional graduada de la Universidad de Chile y tiene un Magister en Ciencias en Consejería y Terapia Familiar de la Universidad de Iona, NY. También tiene una Certificación en Psiquiatría Comunitaria, de la Universidad de Talca, Chile y una Certificación en Teología para Laicos, de la Universidad Católica de Chile. Actualmente inicia estudios en línea en Terapia Floral, en la Escuela de Terapeutas Florales TEBACH, Santiago de Chile.

Cecilia fue directora del Departamento de Terapia Ocupacional del Hospital Geriátrico de Santiago, Chile. Se desempeñó como directora de Pastoral Universitaria en la Universidad South Mountain, Phoenix, AZ. Fue fundadora y directora del Departamento de Liturgia y sirvió como consejera Familiar, en el Departamento de Familia, Diócesis de Linares, Chile. Se desempeñó como Terapeuta Ocupacional y Familiar del Centro de Salud Integral para Adolescentes, Linares, Chile. Y durante los últimos 20 años se desempeñó como Manager del departamento de Servicios Misioneros, Maryknoll, NY.

Durante su juventud, Cecilia participó en las actividades Diocesanas de la Zona Oeste de Santiago donde formó parte del Consejo de dos Obispos reconocidos por la defensa de los derechos humanos en Chile: Monseñor Fernando Ariztía y Monseñor Enrique Alvear.

Cecilia además de su labor misionera en las comunidades rurales, se dedicó al trabajo de derechos humanos y preparación ciudadana para el plebiscito nacional chileno durante la dictadura militar.
